It is his interest in something that is good. By being able to supply his interest, and by, somehow, making it into a lesson, he will learn without realizing it (actual pharmaceutical categorization, his own categorization by active ingredients, actually researching the effects of the ingredients on the body...which will lead into Physiology...etc).
When I was Kai's age...I merely collected Matchbox, Hot Wheels and Johnny Lightning cars. Kai's collection can lead to more learning opportunities.
