Making an Angry Bird

Kai's latest sewing project was to create an Angry Bird.

He got a little frustrated a time or two, but persevered and kept working on the project.

In addition to sewing all the facial features, this one was a little more complex as he had to add on the beak to the front and tail in back.

It all turned out pretty well.

Love this hobby!

  1. Kai is getting very good with his hobby. I must ask...are all of the parts from a kit? If not, is he cutting all of the parts by hand, and designing everything needed? If so, he has the rare ability to manipulate three dimensional objects in his head easily. Any way he is doing it, he is gaining patience towards a goal.

    1. Kai does not use a kit. He looks up the character on his iPad and then hand draws it on a piece of paper which he then cuts out to use as a template. He overlays the paper on the felt and cuts it out. Sometimes he gets frustrated when he is not satisfied with his drawing - he is a bit of a perfectionist - but usually he does this part very well. Yes, he is gaining patience!

  2. Wow...then I am very impressed. He has a very unique mind. What he is doing can carry over to many things in his future. He has the mind of an engineer.

    1. Hopefully the skills he is practicing (beyond just the sewing) will help him with future endeavors.
