Bike Riding Season Just Beginning

For most, bicycle-riding season ended a couple months ago. For us, it has just begun.

This week’s column updates Patch readers on our attempts to teach Kai how to ride a bicycle, and our long dormant dream of going for a family bike ride.

  1. We have yet to take a family bike ride. Sometime in our future we will. I know it would be a great experience...especially at a nice park. Good for you and your family. Good times made...good times remembered.

  2. Yes, sometimes it's these little moments that we will remember most fondly.

So proud of hanabi boy - I really think biking and swimming are those things that may be very late in coming for us :-(
    but you are very inspiring
hope you guys have many rides in the centennial park

  4. Thank you!

We are very fortunate to have found someone who knows how to teach kids with autism. James always held Kai to high expectations and got him to do things that no one else was able to.

  5. I did post a comment on this from my phone earlier in the week, but it obviously didn't make it... I asked if James might fancy an extended vacation to the UK??! People like that are worth their weight in gold. I get what you mean about the humbling bit, but remember lots of children, NT or not, don't want to learn things/listen to their parents... oh the joys of parenthood :)

  6. Haha, I'm sure James would love to visit the UK, but he is too much in demand here to get away. :) We feel lucky to have gotten on his schedule as all the parents of special needs kids here seem to know of him.
